Avril Lavigne has never been one to abide by tradition, so it only makes sense that the Canadian pop-punk singer celebrated her recent nuptials to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger on Monday, July 1, in a black -- not white -- wedding gown.
The "Complicated" singer, 28, rocked a bejeweled flower headpiece in her long blonde hair to complement her strapless black Monique Lhullier gown (90210 star Shenae Grimes also wore a black Vera Wang gown for her May nuptials). Kroeger, 38, wore a black tuxedo over a black shirt and vest in true rocker form.
The couple, who said "I do" in an elaborate ceremony at the Chateau La Napoule in Mandelieu, France, treated guests to an impressive fireworks display on the Mediterranean just before midnight, a source told Us Weekly.
"Avril and Chad had glasses of wine in their hands and were kissing as fireworks popped overhead and sparkled down," the reveler said. "It was a magical moment and everyone was overwhelmed!"
The rocker duo exchanged several sweet kisses on the balcony of the venue for all their family and friends to see, and seemed to only have eyes for each other (and the fireworks) as they stood high above the rest of their wedding guests.
The remainder of the evening was a "wild, all-night party with drinking, dancing, incredible food and lots of laughter and tears of happiness," another source told Us. In fact, sources confirmed to Us, Lavigne, Kroeger and their wedding guests ended up partying until 6 a.m. the next morning to tracks like Bruno Mars' "Marry You" and "Sweet Home Alabama."
Added another pal: "It was a truly amazing wedding, absolutely magical."
